Atchison Child Care was established by Rose Sheahan. Rose has a Bachelor of Education (primary) and prior to opening Atchison Cottage in 1995 at 96 Atchison Street in Crows Nest Rose worked as a Primary Teacher for over seven years. In 2002, Rose opened Atchison Preschool at 98 Atchison Street in Crows Nest. In 2008 Rose expanded Atchison Cottage into the adjacent properties to care for more children. To date Rose has over 28 years experience in the Child Care industry.
Rose Sheahan has been approved by the Department of Education as the Approved Provider and privately owns both Childcare Centres.
Atchison Cottage is a unique heritage timber cottage which has been sympathetically converted to a Child Care Centre. Atchison Cottage caters for 65 children per day. This Centre has a cosy home environment with 6 seperate playrooms to maintain small grouping and caters for the 6 weeks to 6 years age group.
Atchison Preschool is a heritage brick home which has also been converted to a Child Care Centre. Atchison Preschool caters for 29 children per day. The setting here has more of a classroom feel and caters for the 2 years to 6 years age group.
These ‘boutique’ Centres are located in the North Sydney Council area and blend with the surrounding heritage streetscape.
Rose’s priority is to operate high quality services where the best of care is provided. Rose achieves this by working closely with her Directors and Educators. Rose maintains the successful operation of each Centre by being involved with all the decision making from Centre Management, Educators and the development of the Educational Programs.
Rose herself is a mother of three girls and two boys ranging from the ages of 31 years down to 19 years and understands only too well the importance of providing the best of care for our precious children.
Rose is often heard quoting ‘If it’s not good enough for my children then it is not good enough for any child’. This belief is the driving force of operating both Atchison Cottage and Atchison Preschool as exceptionally high quality services.
